5 Ideas to Make your Spanish Bulletin Boards Helpful and Engaging

Full disclosure - I never liked spending time putting things up on my bulletin boards.

There are sooooooo many things to do as a teacher - especially at the beginning of the school year. Stapling things to bulletin boards just never felt like the best way to spend my limited time

But your bulletin boards can be very helpful and informative for students. And even engaging!

Here are 5 ideas to make your bulletin boards great.

Post the date and weather.

Yes, you have to update it every day. But it's super helpful for students to see that vocab over and over every day throughout the year.

Even Spanish 1 students will have it mastered by the end of the year - practically by osmosis.

I always posted the date in the corner of my front bulletin board. I changed it for the next day before leaving, so I wouldn't have to think about it first thing in the morning.

You can grab this Spanish Date Bulletin Board Set in my TpT store

You can also grab this Spanish Weather Bulletin Board Set in my TpT store. Change out the phrases each day for the weather forecast! Or even better - assign a student to do it each morning.

Post common verbs and/or common expressions.

They're so helpful for students to refer to throughout the year!

Spanish 1 and 2 students will especially benefit from being able to reference common expressions. I have always blown them up large and posted them at the front of the class above my whiteboard.

There are 50+ common Spanish classroom phrases and you can grab it in my TpT store

And if you've ever had a Spanish 2 student ask you what dormir means... or another verb they should *definitely* know - you need the Spanish Common Verbs Bulletin Board Set. It includes 60+ Spanish verbs with clipart to illustrate the meaning. No English!

Post verb endings.

If you teach Spanish 1, then post regular AR, ER, and IR verb endings when students start learning the present tense.

You can cover the bulletin board during quizzes or assessments with basically any large paper.

It makes verb conjugation much easier for students when they have a bulletin board they can refer to! And also when they're all color-coded by subject pronoun. 💁‍♀️

I have bulletin board sets in my TpT store for most tenses - present tense, preterite tense, imperfect tense, and future tense

Post timely vocab.

This lets any visitors to your classroom know what your students are currently learning, plus students can easily refer to it throughout the class period.

This might be easier for them than rifling through their notes to find the vocab word they need.

For example, when you're teaching a unit on Spanish prepositions of location, you can put the vocab up on a small bulletin board, so students can easily see the vocab with clipart demonstrating its meaning. You can grab this Prepositions of Location Bulletin Board Set in my TpT store

Post student work.

You have to update this regularly (ugh 😒), but admin has always loved to see it in every school I've ever worked in.

Put some A+ student work on a bulletin board (with student permission 🙂) and everyone will love to see it!
